All about us

There is a lot of information on this page, so please use the headings under Social Enterprise on the left to navigate.

In the meantime, let us introduce our Directors and our Founder:

Casey - Founder

It was Casey's idea to cheer people up by wearing tee-shirts with positive messages. As a member of The Shed, it seemed natural to create Christian messages to be worn by young and old alike who are proud of their faith and want to wear something cool.

Casey is too young to be a legal Director, but she is involved in the day to day business through another Director - her mum Emma, and is the Chair of the Young People's Advisory Board which influences the Directors on matters such as design, social media, marketing, and operations.

Emily - Creative Director

One of our designers too, Emily was a Youth Worker at The Shed Youth Ministry and really liked the idea of Mi-tee. In 2011 she was still at University but behind her disguise of a mild-mannered student, she is one of the founding Directors of Mi-tee.

As Creative Director it is Emily’s responsibility to ensure that there is appropriate creative content coming in to the business and that there is an understanding of what Young People want from funky faith-based fashion.

Emma - Business Director

Proud parent to Casey, it is also Emma’s responsibility to ensure that the day to day business needs of Mi-tee are met including ensuring that a coherent strategy is in place across funding, marketing, and operations.

With an MBA and working as an independent Business Consultant, Emma is the The Capable Manager at the heart of what goes on day to day at Mi-tee. .

Lynne - Youth Director

Lynne Moses is responsible for ensuring that work placements are appropriate and that the spiritual heart of Mi-Tee is incontestable.

Lynne is an experienced Christian Charity Trustee - on the Board of Pecan. As an entrepreneur she has donated a Third Sector Academy online training account which means that Mi-tee can train staff and volunteers as part of work-based references supporting Young People to improve their employment prospects.

Now for all the technical stuff:

So - who do we help?

Mi-tee is a Social Enterprise with a clear, legally binding purpose stated in our Memorandum and Articles of Association logged with Companies House that our business is designed to create surpluses which go directly to The Shed Youth Ministry to fund their activies supporting all Young People across the rural community of Rutland. Phew! After that, our business involves Young People in all work-based activities through volunteering so that they can gain true to life work experience, a reference, and work based learning.

How do we do it?

Our business is designed to create a surplus rather than profit. There are set costs for running the business, for rewarding designers, and paying our suppliers. A small percentage of each tee-shirt sold forms an operational surplus which enables us to invest in expanding the business, and after this all surplus goes to The Shed. At present we are able to send over £5 on average per tee-shirt sold directly to The Shed.

By working from seed-funding we only ever grow a product line based on it being wanted by our customers - we do not work on credit, to run our business ethically and safely.

Young People can volunteer to get involved in a variety of activities, and in return we can responsibly give work references and train Young People in work-based subjects.

Sustainability

Financial sustainability starts with seed-funded acitivities which lower the risk of each business activity that we undertake. We are also delighted to have sought out an ethical tee-shirt stock and an ethical tee-shirt printer. Mi-tee Directors are Christians who work to Christian principles and sound business ethics.

Benefactors

We started because we received seed-funding by winning a CHANGEit award. Sponsored by Deutsche Bank and delivered by Common Purpose, this was an award won by our Founder Casey.

Designers

Anyone can be a designer, just submit a design and if we use it we will pay you £1 for every tee-shirt sold.

Our Creative Director Emily is the designer of our inaugural launch tee-shirt, and Beth is the highly talented designer of our first unisex design.
